The Significance of Celebration
The Vigan City Fiesta is held every 25th of January. It is celebrated during the feast day of the conversion of St. Paul the Apostle, the Vigan City’s patron saint. The Vigan City Fiesta usually lasts for several days. It includes within the period the celebration of the anniversary of the cityhood of Vigan, which is commemorated every January 27. Biguenos from all over the country and even abroad return to Vigan, as it is the costum of Filipinos to return to their hometown to join their family and friends in the celebration of their fiesta. There are also food fairs, arts and crafts, exhibits, as well as a visiting carnival.
We all have been affected by the current Covid-19 pandemic. Nonetheless, it is very pleasing to know that we still have this celebration amidst these circumstances. Considering the huge risk that one might get infected by the said virus and the strict health protocols; we cannot celebrate it just like how we used to. The limited movements and social distancing cause us to have lesser interaction with one another giving us a different feel during this said celebration. But still, the idea of celebrating it brings so much happiness to us.
All in all, we should
still be thankful because we are able to celebrate it. Since celebrating things
like fiesta is still very important because it can lessen stress and other
illness caused by overworking.
